FAYETTEVILLE -- Unofficially Ben Sowders extended an unofficial Razorbacks record.
Since Jim Williams became Frank Broyles' first Razorbacks strength coach in 1974, it seems every Arkansas head coach commences August preseason citing his team's best ever summer conditioning while bragging on the strength coach.
It's not always so rosy come November.
Sam Pittman especially bragged on the two strength coaches he hired from Georgia where Pittman coached the offensive line from 2016-2019.
He parted company with both strength coaches in 2022.
Ben Sowders, another that Pittman knew from Kirby Smart's Georgia staff, was named Arkansas' head strength and conditioning coach in December 2022.
The 2023 Razorbacks skidded 4-8 overall and 1-7 in the SEC.
They weren't as collectively strong as advertised. Just one among so many team flaws plaguing Pitman's 2023 Hogs.
