THEATER
Immersive 'Chicago'
Actors Theatre of Little Rock stages "Chicago" (music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, book by Ebb and Bob Fosse), in "immersive" fashion and in the round, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, 6 p.m. Sunday through July 27 at Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church, 1600 Louisiana St., Little Rock.
The "immersive" production, in the same mold as the theater's production of "Sweeney Todd," puts the action -- in a 1920s jazz-club setting -- within and surrounding the audience and allows some audience members to join in.
A pre-show starts 20 minutes before each performance. The theater group is rating the show PG-13 for material "which may not be suitable for all audiences," including sexual content, strong language, gun use and death.
Seating is in three types: immersive, $35, which includes a show cocktail delivered by actors during the pre-show; fully non-immersive, $30, for which "there is zero audience interaction of any kind"; and general, $25 for adults and $20 for students, senior citizens and military, which have "light audience interaction."
