The 10th-anniversary Reel Queer Film Festival (formerly known as Kaleidoscope), Aug. 8-11 at the Studio Theatre, 320 W. Seventh St., Little Rock, includes feature and short films that showcase "the diverse experiences and stories of the LGBTQ+ community," according to a news release.
The lineup includes:
◼️ "The People's Joker," 6:30 p.m. Aug. 8: A painfully unfunny aspiring clown (director Vera Drew) grapples with her gender identity while unsuccessfully attempting to join the ranks of Gotham City's sole comedy program in a world where comedy has been outlawed. A question and answer session with Drew follows the screening.
◼️ "1946: The Mistranslation that Shifted a Culture," 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9: A documentary exploring the historical and cultural impact of a mistranslation in the Bible that has influenced societal views on homosexuality.
