Carlos Rodriguz-Velez ripped a two-run single in the bottom of the ninth inning to complete a comeback victory for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff at the Torii Hunter Complex in Pine Bluff.
Velez's hit was the 12th of the day for UAPB (15-31, 6-17 Southwestern Athletic Conference), which surrendered five runs in the first inning and was saddled with a 6-2 deficit going into the fifth inning. But the Golden Lions got three runs during their at-bat in the fifth, sparked by a two-run home run from Jalyn Williams, to pull within one before sealing the win in the final frame.
Rodriguez-Velez, who drove in three runs in the game, Williams, Donavan Noble and Edwin DeLaCruz all had two hits for UAPB.
