Bluff shelters highlighted
Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area will host a free program at 2 p.m. Sunday at the visitor center about thousands of years of bluff shelter activity in Arkansas.
Alaynna Littlefeather was born on and spent most of her adolescence on a Navajo reservation. She will discuss a variety of different tribes that moved through Northwest Arkansas.
Get set for hunting
"Kickoff to Hunting" event is set for Aug. 17 at the J.B. and Johnelle Hunt Family Ozark Highlands Nature Center in Springdale.
Arkansas Game and Fish Commission wildlife experts will be on hand to answer any questions. They will share current data and updates on populations of deer, bear, wild turkeys and other wildlife. Take hunter ed
An Arkansas Game and Fish hunter education class is set for 5:30 to 9 p.m. Aug. 27-28 at the J.B. and Johnelle Hunt Family Ozark Highlands Nature Center in Springdale.
Anyone born after 1968 must complete a hunter education course and carry a hunter education card to hunt in Arkansas. Attendees must attend both nights. Registration is required. Call the center at (877) 486-9870 for registration information.
Go for grand slam
Arkansas Game and Fish Commission recognizes fishing accomplishments with a 2024 Grand Slam Award for qualifying resident or nonresident anglers
To win a Grand Slam Award and a colorful Grand Slam Award sticker, catch a catfish, sunfish, crappie, trout and bass during 2024. There is no minimum size requirement. Bass includes any species of bass including black bass, white bass, striped bass or others called bass. Take a photo of each qualifying fish and submit the photo and information to the online Grand Slam Award application at agfc.com.
Hike with a guide
Guided hikes at the Ozark Natural Science Center in Madison County will be held at 9 a.m. the first Saturday of each month through December. Guided hikes at the center's Lake Fayetteville location are the third Saturday of each month. Hikes are with the center's teacher naturalists. Hikes are by donation. Registraion is required.
