SPRINGDALE -- Optimism and fellowship were the operative words Thursday during the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette football media day at Arvest Ballpark.
Players and coaches greeted one another as they lounged around waiting for interviews and photos conducted by members of the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette sports staff. The atmosphere was cordial and relaxed, which will change dramatically once the teams start butting heads for the start of the 2024 high school football season later this month.
The assembled teams ranged from undefeated Class 7A state champion Fayetteville to Siloam Springs, which didn't win a game last season. There are old faces in new places, including Doug Loughridge, who accepted the challenge in trying to turn around a Siloam Springs program that's lost 27 consecutive games.
