OPINION | WALLY HALL: Brian Kelly snuffs bad first impression with wins

DALLAS -- In his first official act as an SEC football coach in 2022, Brian Kelly came across badly.

For the SEC football media days, in front of hundreds of reporters and dozens of cameras, LSU's first-year head coach tried to use a southern accent that came across like something between between a moan and a groan.

He only did it once, at least that we know of, and obviously the guy who had never coached further south than Cincinnati, Ohio, was just trying to fit in.

Kelly has come across as a top-shelf coach and if not for a defense that was meant for the Sun Belt than the SEC he might have tied or won the Western Division, which he did tie for in his first season.
