RIGHT TIME, RIGHT PLACE: Arkansas expats meet in D.C., pizza aces the link

Lucy Speed and Quinten Whiteside were married on Aug. 8, 2015. They met while working for then U.S. Sen. David Pryor in Washington, D.C. Before Lucy got her own place, she roomed with four or five other women. Quinten became fast friends with them by buying pizza for everyone. “They all still talk about that,” he says. “We were at a wedding two years ago and they were like, ‘Remember when you bought us pizza that time?’” (Special to the Democrat-Gazette/Kati Mallory Fine Art Photography)

Lucy Speed heard Quinten Whiteside before she saw him.

Little Rock native Speed had graduated from the University of Virginia and, in 2010, moved to Washington to intern in the office of then-U.S.
