Shot-putter Selase Sampram will be the lone athlete representing Arkansas State at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships this week at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
A junior from Wylie, Texas, Sampram will be making her debut at the Outdoor Championships after recording a personal best mark of 56 feet, 2.5 inches and finishing 10th at the NCAA West First Round meet in Fayetteville on May 23.
Twelve competitors from the West Prelims qualified for the NCAAs, with Sampram earning her 10th-place finish by hitting her personal-best on her third and final throw of the competition. She became the first Arkansas State woman to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the shot put since Erin Farmer did so in 2017.
