Central Arkansas rallies late, defeats Jacksonville

Thanks to plenty of late-game heroics, the University of Central Arkansas baseball team picked up its second win of the ASUN Tournament with a 10-7 victory over Jacksonville on Thursday in DeLand, Fla.

The Bears (25-29) trailed 7-4 after six innings after the Dolphins (26-30) scored five runs against Charlie Christentsen, the UCA starter, and two runs against reliever Mason Griffin.

But UCA cut the lead to one run in the seventh inning thanks to a RBI single by Drew Sturgeon and a RBI groundout by Bryce Cermenelli to make it 7-6.

With reliever Hunter Alexander (5-3) shutting down the Dolphins' hitters, the Bears tied the game in the eighth inning as Kade Seldomridge scored on a wild pitch.

Sturgeon and Casey Shipley led off the top of the ninth inning with back-to-back walks before Cermenelli was hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs.
