The University of Central Arkansas baseball team's season came to an end Saturday as it fell 6-5 to Kennesaw State in the ASUN Tournament semifinals in DeLand, Fla.
The sixth-seeded Bears (26-30), playing their fourth game in as many days, ended their first ASUN Tournament appearance with three wins and as the winner of Pool B. Kennesaw State (32-23), which won Pool A with a 2-0 record, had its final group game canceled, giving the Owls an off-day Friday.
With pitching options limited and an eye toward a potential championship game Sunday, UCA opted to start its usual closer, Hunter Alexander.
The sophomore from Bigelow held the Owls to 2 runs on 6 hits and a walk in 4 innings. In the top of the fifth inning, the Bears provided some run support with an RBI hit from Bryce Cermenelli and a sacrifice fly from Mason King to make the score 2-2.
