Reports surfaced on Wednesday that Arkansas-Little Rock women's basketball Coach Joe Foley was retiring from his position after coaching 36 seasons of college basketball, with the last 21 of those spent at UALR.
The university confirmed the decision in a news release Thursday morning.
"Coach Joe Foley is a legend in basketball and will always be fondly remembered by Trojans fans," UALR Athletic Director Frank Cuervo said in the release. "His contributions to the institution and its athletic programs are too numerous to count. Coach Foley's teams always played with grit and determination, truly exhibiting the heart of a Trojan."
Foley's 866 career wins between UALR and Arkansas Tech rank 13th all-time in women's college basketball with 410 of those victories coming during his tenure with the Trojans.
