OPINION | WALLY HALL: Mystik Dan won’t get shot at Muth, Baffert

It is always a good thing for the field when the favorite drops out of a horse race, especially if he's coming off two impressive wins.

Muth, winner of the Arkansas Derby on March 30, was scratched from Saturday's Preakness Stakes with fever of 103.

He was the 8-5 favorite, but didn't run in the Kentucky Derby because trainer Bob Baffert is still suspended at Churchill Downs.

That race was won by Arkansas-owned Mystik Dan, who at 5-2 now moves up to the favorite sp0t in what is an eight-horse field.

The feeling here is there may be some disappointment in the Mystik Dan camp. They wanted another shot at Muth, who beat them in the Arkansas Derby when he got a perfect ride, running second and taking the lead at the head of the stretch and winning by two lengths under a hand ride.
