The 15th in a series previewing SEC football teams.
DALLAS -- Mississippi State linebacker John Lewis politely corrected a reporter who asked the redshirt junior about playing for his third head coach with the Bulldogs in three years.
"It's actually four," Lewis said at SEC media days.
Lewis included Greg Knox, Mississippi State's interim coach for the last two games in 2023 after Zach Arnett was fired with the team at 4-6.
It was the only season as head coach for Arnett, Mississippi State's defensive coordinator from 2020-22 and now an analyst at Ole Miss. He was promoted when Mike Leach died unexpectedly after the 2022 regular season from complications related to a heart condition.
Mississippi State is hoping its new coach, Jeff Lebby, can bring back the success the Bulldogs enjoyed in going 8-4 under Leach in 2022 with their third consecutive bowl appearance.
