A building in an apartment complex in Little Rock was damaged in a fire Wednesday morning, the city's fire department said.
Capt. Doug Coffman, a spokesman for the department, said firefighters got the call around 8:13 a.m. and responded to Spanish Jon apartment complex at 5001 W 65th St. and near Butler Road.
The fire in an upstairs apartment spread to the attic area of the building, he said Wednesday morning.
"Even though it was contained to one unit, because it got into that attic and then the roof, it was a difficult situation," Coffman said.
He said most of the roof burned off because the attic was difficult to get to and was an open area above the apartments.
"Everyone was evacuated, and I can imagine it will be uninhabitable for a good while," the fire captain said.
